Our Purpose

to advocate for the flowing waters, estuaries and marshlands of Aquidneck Island and to increase public awareness of the hazards affecting the watershed.

Summary of Projects

In 2009, Aquidneck Island Planning Commission received a grant to mobilize, educate, inform and empower Aquidneck Island communities to better understand the dynamics of Island energy use and production and to support the development of sustainable energy practices by achieving energy savings, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging a wide variety of renewable resources throughout the communities of Aquidneck Island.

The Aquidneck Island Watershed Council received a grant in 2008 to begin a series of public forums regarding the protection of the watershed, including tours and cleanup area and monitoring decisions and activities affecting the watershed.
