2018 RootSkills Conference
December 7 & 8, 2018 - College of the Holy Cross, Worcester (MA)
The RootSkills Conference held on December 7 & 8th at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA was a smashing success!
Over 260 people from around New England (and beyond) came together to share skills and wisdom, connect and inspire with the shared goal to build more just, resilient and healthy communities. Eleven tracks and 33 sessions on topics from Justice, Equity and Democracy in the Food System to the Solidarity Economy to
Grassroots Fundraising to Group Resiliency, provided resources and strategies for grassroots organizers, grass-top staff members and engaged neighbors to tackle challenges in their local communities.
Keynote, Kali Akuno of Cooperation Jackson, challenged the audience to address our current crisis in equitable ways:
“We have to make our systems regenerative, and we need all of you to take on that challenge… The IPCC report says change is needed but is not clear who will make the change. Nobody is coming to save us. We must be the change that the world needs.”
Thank you to our planning committee, staff and board for their support and participation in this essential event! We can't wait to see you in 2019.
