The overall goal of the Sabattus Recreation Garden Club (SRGC) is to cultivate community. Formed as a result of a Community Needs Assessment (2013 & 2022), identifying the need for recreation and community engagement, the GRO, a Graduate Research Opportunity, was part of my Graduate Studies pathway. We, SRGC, engage community members by offering a variety of workshops that are led with compassion, including trauma-informed practices, and include gardening techniques, nature-based lessons, engaging in outdoor recreation, and embracing gathering as a yield. The outreach of SRGC is far beyond the garden gates and is exemplified through lived experiences in the outdoors.
