Our Purpose

To uplift community, environmental and climate justice, and proactive community resilience culture and practice, OV Hub is a shared space and resource for residents to come together in times of emergency for shelter, services, and provisions, and throughout the year to learn about and take action for environmental resilience, economic security and community health. We also gather at OV Hub to celebrate our projects, programs, accomplishments and collaborations and to better connect people together. We work with anchor and community partners, and city and state agencies to pursue opportunities and identify ways that we can use our knowledge of our neighborhoods to make things better.Around 37,295 people live in 5 urban neighborhoods adjacent to our hub, which we call OV Hub; and OV Hub is co-located with the Joslin Recreation Center next to the William D’abate Elementary School right in the heart of Central Providence, adjacent to Downtown. We love our neighborhoods and all the great things happening in them, but for many people here, life is very hard. We cope with increasing severe storms and flooding, low-income and impoverished households, transportation overburden, lack of greenspace, poor health outcomes, and exposure to hazards/toxins among other interconnected racial, environmental and social justice burdens. To address these, all are welcome through our doors and up the elevator or stairs into our offices, community room and kitchen!
