The Community Events Collective, subgroup of Hawk & Handsaw Farm, is a volunteer run group that has a purpose of organizing a wide range of community events at Hawk & Handsaw Farm as well as other locations on Aquidneck Island to showcase locally grown food and promote the importance of farmers and local food sources as well the importance of community connection.The types of events we put on fall into three main categories:Weekly Seasonal Markets, Annual Celebrations of the Season, and Educational Workshops/ Classes/ Lectures.We have partnered with several other locations on our island to create more direct to consumer produce markets. We are a working vegetable farm and see the value in collaboration with other farms and businesses in our area to collectively offer more selection and variety of goods than any one farm could do on there own. It is through this group that many other farms, businesses, and community have come together to offer a wider range of goods all in one place.Our annual seasonal celebrations offer community building for all ages and a chance to connect with the seasons and nature.The workshops and classes we put on ourselves or invited teachers have hosted, offer a wide range of learning oppertunites for the community, all ages, encompassing a extremely varied range of topics.All events, classes, workshops, are offered via sliding scale donation, no one is ever turned away.
