Charles R Washburn Memorial Trust
Our Purpose
The Charles R Washburn Memorial Trust was established in 1955. It is a non profit that was created to preserve the open space of the park for the purpose of recreation, education and entertainment for the surrounding community. There are 6 members on our board. The Trust property abuts recreational land providing access to hiking, cycling, equestrians and pet owners. The Trust also contains two horse rings used for events annually. Our members maintain the grounds and monitor the needs of the property, we are 100% volunteer based and our members all work to preserve, maintain and coordinate activites on the land that was donated by Charles Washburn. It has changed members over the years and my father was President for many years and when he could no longer do the job, I decided to take over for him and find ways to bring the community together using the Trust land. We are currently starting a farmers market to provide our surrounding communties with healthy food options, while also promoting local farmers, artisans, and entertainment. I am also a nurse and I know the importance of fresh vegetables, but also know the difficulties farmers are facing these days. I believe that the farmers market will be an assett to the town in bringing the community together on a weekly basis to shop.
