Red Storm 509 is a FIRST FRC (First Robotics Challenge) Team based out of Bedford, NH. The team is primarily student led with mentors to assist us where needed. The mission of Team 509 is to inspire and prepare the next generation of STEM leaders through focused growth. We do this through designing and building robots to compete at FIRST FRC events. We also engage in many outreach activities, with the aim to spread STEM throughout our community. We mentor elementary and middle schoolers through our FIRST FTC and FLL teams. We host fundraisers at major town events such as voting day, and we partner with local businesses to spread our mission. Additionally, we also work with our local library to host a STEM day where we set up activities that are engaging for younger kids to introduce them to science and engineering related topics. In our school (Bedford High School), we have advocated for more engineering classes and also hosted STEM related activities during intersession (a multi-day program run by our school to encourage students opportunity to try new things).
