Franklin County Community Land Trust
Our Purpose
Franklin County Community Land Trust's (FCCLT) mission is to scale up the availability of permanently affordable, democratically-governed, shared-equity opportunities for land and housing in Franklin county. We seek to meaningfully reduce the racialized wealth divide in Western Massachusetts and better meet individual and community needs. FCCLT is finding the means to say YES to home donation through capacity building, and seeking to permanently recycle subsidies for generations, rather than 30 years or less. Over the last 2 years, we have been doing this through expanding our collaboration with individuals and groups who are exploring how to deepen their involvement in a more solidarity based economy - within the Valley Alliance for Land Equity (VALE). This includes stakeholders from other community land trusts within the 3 counties, housing cooperatives, financing firms, law offices, architects, developers, builders, community people power organizations, and governmental connected agencies. Using a horizontal, sociocracy governance framework, FCCLT acts as fiscal sponsor for the VALE collaborative network of over 25 regularly bi-weekly involved volunteers and nearly 60 mission aligned folk with a wide range of skillsets to build out a resource sharing network that enables us to get land & homes off the commoditized speculative market forever.
