Henniker Lions Club
Our Purpose
The Henniker Lions Club, founded in 1984, is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to improving quality of life for people in our community and beyond. Our work is grounded in service areas such as hunger relief and environmental stewardship, both of which are increasingly interconnected. We recognize that food insecurity and environmental sustainability are not separate challenges—they require shared, community-based solutions. Our raised bed garden project reflects this broader vision. Rather than only providing short-term food assistance, we aim to empower individuals and families with the skills, resources, and confidence to grow their own food affordably and sustainably. By reducing barriers to gardening, we help build long-term food security while also promoting practices that lower carbon footprints, such as local food production and reduced reliance on packaged goods.Through our ongoing partnership with the local food pantry, we see firsthand the growing need in Henniker. This project builds on that experience, shifting from solely meeting immediate needs to fostering resilience, self-sufficiency, and environmental awareness. Ultimately, our goal is to create a healthier, more sustainable community where people are supported not just in times of need, but in building lasting solutions for themselves and future generations.
