Our Purpose

As our society develops more advanced technology, collectively we have grown farther away from the root of our nature, that we are an interconnected, social species and part of a much bigger ecosystem.  Over time this disconnect has harmed the environment that sustains us.  We can remind our children about their part in the ecology around them by simply bringing them outdoors.  Everything they learn in class can be applied to life in the garden from art to chemistry to mathematics to literature.  Nature provides an endless supply of lessons and inspiration.  In addition to the academic enhancement a school garden will offer, there is a critical component of emotional wellbeing waiting for our children out there.  What children experience at home and at school has a feedback loop that influences their very core of being.  The science is there, we need only listen and follow the guidance.  Afterall, our children are the future and their future is in our hands.  This is why the PTO Garden Committee is ready to put in the hard work of building a school garden starting with a native plant pollinator garden in front of the school, then adding sensory plant boarders along walkways, with the ultimate goal of building a hands-on learning garden with tie-ins to the classroom curriculum.
