Graveyard Tea Parties is a project designed to inspire acts of community, strengthen existing communities, and forge connections between strangers using food and a sense of shared history. This group holds public gatherings to serve tea and snacks while celebrating the life of a long-passed individual through the cleaning of graves and informed conversation on the subject's life history. It is a core belief of Graveyard Tea Parties that movements for change must be predicated on a common social understanding if not full friendship and camaraderie. Few things invite people to share about themselves like food and civic pride. A major goal of the Graveyard Tea Party group is to evolve past being just a group or a club and into being an open-door community. We would like to become a tool and a space for community development through the growth of new connections. As our project expands, so will its pool of decision-makers.
