The Joy Truck Project
Our Purpose
The Joy Truck, previously mobile, is currently a community resource center in a remodeled Unifirst delivery truck seasonally stationed between a railroad yard, fire station and playground in the heart of Brownville Junction, Maine. This project brings multi-disciplinary and community-defined arts activities, harm reduction supplies, clothes, books and storytelling to rural Maine while raising opportunities for inspired leadership and teaching. The Joy Truck Project suggests alternative frameworks for resource distribution and the arts with the goal of supplementing and complementing gaps within existing distribution systems. This project continues to exist because of the shared belief that social change and ensuring needs are met can be joyous, and creative.
