Our Purpose

The purpose of the Claremont NH Historical Society is to:
  • Preserve and publish historical knowledge of Claremont, New Hampshire;
  • Collect, acquire, and preserve documents, records and artifacts of local historical significance and to record accounts, stories, and folklore concerning Claremont;
  • Acquire and maintain buildings to protect and display said items;
  • Participate in activities that promote interest in Claremont's History.
Long before the colonial settlement of Claremont in 1762 and the founding in 1764, the area and its land, trees, flora and fauna held a story. We want to expand into a holistic representation of our community history, from the prosperous territories of the nomadic Wabanaki to present day.
