In May 2021, Mrs. Emily Darby, Reading Specialist, and Ms. Maureen Kiesel, Library Media Specialist, both Main Street School teachers, were excited to announce their new passion project.  Thanks to a SAU 16 Grant, Books on Bikes New England pedaled through Exeter throughout the summertime to child-friendly destinations, and handed out free books to children PreK- Age 9!  We are passionate about building school and community partnerships, creating home libraries, book floods, and lessening the gap between low socioeconomic families and high, in terms of access to children's literacy at home.  We love kids, books representing all kinds of people and genres, and building community connections.       Between then and now,  Books on Bikes has become an official NH nonprofit corporation, been granted tax exempt status, and has gathered a governing board and volunteer bikers.  Help us spread book love and build home libraries one at a time.
