- Monitor water quality to help determine where pollution sources are. Knowing where pollution is coming from will allow us to target strategies to improve water quality. Ongoing water quality monitoring will allow us to determine whether water quality is stable, improving, or declining--and allow us to see if future pollution mitigation efforts are working.
- Improve water quality through stormwater mitigation. This work would be accomplished over time and with local partners and government.
- Connect the community to the river. The Saugatucket River has a vibrant community surrounding it, and one of our most important goals is to help connect the community to the river and surrounding land through public outreach programs and community litter cleanups.
- Educate children about the river, and how to be stewards of the river and its surrounding land.
- Partner with other groups to assist with migratory fish passage projects.
- Advocate at the local and state level for water quality improvement and anti-litter policy.

Our Purpose
Our purpose is to be an advocacy group for the Saugatucket River and its watershed in Wakefield and Peace Dale, RI. The Saugatucket River was heavily used by textile mills during the industrial revolution, and remains impacted from this use. There are multiple dams impeding migratory fish passage and the river has some pollution issues. Our group has multiple goals:
