Our Purpose

Our purpose is to...promote growth and vitality of the native fishing industry on Cape Cod.  This overall goal will be achieved through consulting, education and empowerment through the sharing of information, creating partnerships with all stakeholders for implementation of food security chains with integrity and engagement of the improvement of eco-system based management practices that reflect adaptation to climate change.  Food sovereignty is the building blocks of food security and conservation which by definition, reflects our goals to rebuild our relationship with food and it's ecosystem by promoting the need for finding the solutions to balance the need for food security while providing sustainability of that living resource with a fish eye lens.  Our Farm-a-Sea program started last November by making fishcakes for the Family Food Pantry and it has met with success in providing a much needed protein alternative.  It has connected the fisher, fishmonger and chef to the community by using leftover fish or bycatch product.  The shift to plant/seaweed and ocean-based options is just the beginning of supporting biodiversity and reducing food insecurity.  I do this work because I believe in the importance of being an integral part of our ecosystem and the responsibility we have to maintain sustainability of our resources for generations to come.
