Our Purpose

The Charlemont Forum organized in 2010 to create a space for people to hear and be heard. To discuss topics of both local and national concern.  To inform, but not necessarily advocate.  We host two or three forum events per year. The volunteer administrative group of 11 - 12 individuals from several age groups (including high school), recommend, discuss and then choose topics.  Our mission statement : An ongoing lecture series that explores the causes of and possible solutions for many aspects of the current divisions in American social, political and economic culture. Committed to inquiry not advocacy, the Charlemont Forum engages informed leaders and humanities scholars from various fields to share information and encourage dialogue on important topics. We are not a strictly environmental group,  but our history in chosing speakers shows that our environment, be it climate, nutrition, farming, economics, social justice and other areas are of prime concern to us; and we want to share the knowledge of those areas with our audience.
