Our Purpose

The Coastal Youth Climate Coalition (CYCC) was created during the pandemic. We work to create a network of schools, groups, and individuals, to provide resources, networking and organizing guidance. We connect rural or physically dispersed students to their peers in order to work towards a common goal and in order to uplift youth voices which would otherwise not have a platform. CYCC is an entirely youth-operated organization, in which students help other students gain knowledge and experience about topics such as solar energy installations, climate emergency declarations, and other climate-based issues. The group spans middle school, high school, and college students, which brings different levels of experience to a common platform. We have a podcast in which we interview student activists, which allows other students to learn from their peers, creating more opportunity for youth voices to be heard. Climate change is the biggest threat to the human population today, and the youth voices pushing for change should only be amplified. CYCC acts as a channel for this to occur.
