Our Purpose

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization with a mission to redistribute consumable surplus food from businesses to people suffering from hunger and food insecurity. Dana, who has been with RLC since 2017 as the Massachusetts Branch Manager and founded RLC’s Rhode Island branch in 2021, has been a professional photographer since 1998 and saw the need for food recovery in the events industry. In 2014, she co-founded an initiative to educate fellow event professionals about the law and need for donating unused food after events. Dana quickly discovered that one of the biggest obstacles was transportation. After years of experiencing this roadblock, she learned that RLC was the solution. We believe that excess food marks a new beginning, not an end. RLC aims to ignite a broader, more consistent food rescue and distribution network to both immediately and sustainability prevent wasted food, provide for people and preserve the environment for future generations.
