Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Community Food Pantry
Our Purpose
Our main purpose is to provide ready access to a wide range of food supplies and some non-food necessities to those in our community who find themselves either chronically or acutely food insecure. The primary sources of food coming into the pantry for distribution are the New Hampshire Food Bank, donations of food by individuals and local faith communities, near-expiration donations from Hannafords Supermarket, and direct purchase of food paid for by cash donations to KLSCFP.In addition to shelf stable food staples we work with a number of partner organizations to provide fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as fresh baked bread products in order to enhance healthfulness of our clients' diet. A few of those partners include the Kearsarge Food Hub, Musterfield Farms, Springledge Farms, Colby-Sawyer College, and Blue Loon Bakery, as well as a number of small farming operations in the region. To the degree appropriate in the food pantry environment we seek to develop relationship and community with our clients. This goal has led us to collaborate with individuals and other organizations to target services to subsets of the community that may have special considerations such as the elderly or the homebound.
