Living Communities Foundation
Our Purpose
We provide a building with free meeting space for area groups, host a Food Pantry (some food is delivered), offer a huge organic Community Garden with over 100 kinds of edible plants, supporting the Pantry, and, before COVID, sponsored educational potluck dinner-and-a-movie nights. We also host a Native Drum, The Great ThunderChicken Drum, open and free to all for weekly practice sessions. We address food insecurity, social isolation, aging issues, and community sustainability in a poor, rural area. This is an all-volunteer group with no funding from the Town or State. We respect the privacy of all our participants if they do not want to share their social status or identifying cultural characteristics, but are glad to discuss ways to deal with the local power structure from a community standpoint. All are considered equal.
