Our purpose is to help the city of Boston during  the Covid 19 crisis.   With the temporary closing of Boston Public Schools and other nearby districts where children receive two meals daily, we have activated our summer food service program to alleviate food insecurity.   It is critical to continue to serve the needs of Boston's children who receive food at school and through the Y's programs.   Last summer we served approximately 300,000 meals at 84 locations (food sites.)  We were able to quickly open 60 of those sites and began serving meals on Monday, March 16.  The first week we served over 34,000 meals.  We are also in discussions with the Commonwealth to soon open emergency child care centers for first responders, community and health care workers.  We know that by working together, our community can get through these difficult time
