POPArt! Formed in 2019 when the Department of Art Culture and Tourism (ACT) partnered with the Partnership for PVD Parks to create a youth-led public art summer program. In just one year POPArt! has been in all 25 neighborhoods of Providence creating art and building connections with community members everywhere in the city. Through this work, we have found that art has a way of bringing together people of all ages, races, and genders. We use art materials within the public spaces that are universally recognizable such as chalk, crayons, and paint. Through our trained art makers, POPArt! explores with the public the myriad ways to use these materials.
