US Committe for Refugees and Immigrants Vermont
Our Purpose
As the only refugee resettlement agency in the state of Vermont, U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) Vermont brings hope and opportunity to the lives of refugees, New Americans, and immigrants through comprehensive, integrated, and linguistically and culturally appropriate services. These services include intensive case management, transitional cash assistance, employment support, housing placement, English language and citizenship training, and family strengthening education. Refugees have been forced to flee their home countries due to persecution and violence - As a result, many have endured trauma and deprivation, and face additional stress overcoming cultural and linguistic changes as they build new lives in the U.S. Over the last forty years, USCRI Vermont has served thousands of refugee and immigrant families as they transition to life in the Green Mountain state. Through our comprehensive programs, has resettled clients from Bhutan, Bosnia, Burma, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Nepal, Somalia, Sudan, and Syria in Burlington, Winooski, and other towns and communities throughout Vermont.
