Dreamville House
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to bridge the gap between the world of opportunity, Healthy Food Options, Urban youth and their families living in Ansonia, Shelton and Derby CT which is located on the Naugatuck River. Back in 2014 Nur Fitzpatrick along with Wesleyan University Students developed a model by establishing new gardens, creating a small farm and restoring exsisting community gardens in the city of Middletown, CT so the neighborhood could thrive by growing their own food and feed itself. With much success ...Nur is branching out to Ansonia, Shelton and Derby by utilizing the same Model & establishing small Community Gardens. The gardening movement facilitated by Community Garden/Farm organizer Nur Moebius Fitzpatrick has grown into a movement central to the way residents engage one another, grow food, feed themselves and their families in light of living in a food desert with limited access to home grown healthy food.Beyond physical nourishment, Community gardens form part of a neighborhood's daily routine, with children stopping by on their way home from school, gardening activities on the weekends and students from nearby University becoming involved in the community by way of volunteering. We emphasize community-building through collective work, and our efforts are centered around the restorative potential community gardening has for emotional / mental health and healing, on the level of individuals and entire communities.
