Our purpose is to...minimize the effects that food insecurity has on children by providing 130 students of Hopeville Elementary School, in Waterbury Ct, with weekend food packs which contain Breakfast and lunch food items for both Saturday and Sunday. The effects of food insecurity are far reaching. When you wonder if there is a consistant supply of food, your focus is not on school work. it is, instead on where your next meal is coming from. From the time that the dismissal bells rings on Friday, until school is back in session, 1 in 6 chldren, in the state, will open their refrigerator and wonder is there ewill be enough food to sustain them through the weekend.By minimizing the effects that food insecurity has on children in an educational setting, it is hoped that they can focus on their school work rather  than focusing on whether they have an adquate supply of food to sustain them through the weekend, from the time the dismissal bell rings on Friday, until their return to school on Monday.
