Our purpose is to maintain a clean and safe space for children and adults to be physically active while learning or practicing with alternatives to traditional transportation, such as but not limited to: Bicycles, skateboards,and roller skates.This particular space of Heaven skate park has brought together many diverse community members who would otherwise not interact on a regular basis.This park combines eco-friendly choices with healthy activities to get children and adults active.We have one of the few and limited green spaces in the city along the outskirts of the main ramps. We are working toward making the space a cooling and shade zone for the downtown Hartford area.Many of the people whom frequent the park do not have access to clean drinkable water.We would like to use rain barrels and a filtration system to help provide some of the basic needs while visiting the park. The green space we have available needs a system to collect water and divert it to the plant life growing at the park. We have about 10 areas where we can plant sustainable food crops for community gardens.We have volunteers willing to help maintain the areas.This is a space that is one and only in this downtown area, and we would like to set a good example on being eco-friendly by making eco-positive choices in the future additions to this unique park.
