Brattleboro Common Sense's mission is to invigorate the political life and maximize the political influence of Brattleboro, by facilitating residents’ involvement and influence in civic affairs. We create small-town actions that address global issues in novel ways, so people can influence big issues as a community and model low-population practices. Our climate initiatives are focused on matching the intensity of the global crisis. Recent victories include the town contracting with local renewable-sourced energy projects, and securing a climate agenda item at every school district board meeting.Our current climate-related initiatives are:- The town adopting serious conservation rules, crafted through community input on issues of sacrifice;- The town establishing monthly meetings to incubate and speed climate rescue measures;- Hosting spaces for people to explore the emotional & mental trauma of climate devastation; and- The project that is the subject of this application.
