Our Purpose

to promote tourism and enhance the creative aspects of our vibrant villages. For almost a decade, the alpine village of Franconia, New Hampshire has been barely hanging on to its viable Main St. Much of this was due to a stagnant economy, but for the last few years the looming proposal of the Northern Pass Transmission Project threatened to tear up our streets and install a high voltage power line right through the middle of town. The community has spent staggering amounts of money to stop this travesty which threatened our beautiful Gale River as well as many wetlands and wellheads along the route. As a result, businesses have  come and gone. Sidewalks have deteriorated. Store fronts have remained vacant for far too long. Our few restaurants and cafes compete for locals' patronage and that of the few visitors who actually exit the nearby interstate to explore the area. It seems that the town is in a holding pattern. The Franconia ArtWalk Association is a newly created regional organization which has decided to use and preserve our abundant natural resources to turn around the atmosphere of our town. It is focused on developing art-related attractions for people of all ages and abilities. The proposed attraction we’ve decided to create is The Franconia Art Walk.As an organization, our mission is to create and ensure the sustainability of this project.
