Our Purpose

Mission Statement: Connecting people to the natural and cultural history of Maine so they can enjoy, understand, and protect the environment.  Vision Statement: Living in Balance with NatureWe aim to provide opportunities and access for all people, regardles of origin, age, ability or income to enjoy being active outdoors and learning about the environment. This will benefit health and quality of life for individuals, families, communities, and also benefit the environment itself. Only if people have an appreciation of the natural world will they care to protect it. In the words of renowned naturalist Baba Dioum, "In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught."
