Friends of the Concord - Lake Sunapee Rail Trail
Our Purpose
The mission of The Friends of the Concord - Lake Sunapee Rail Trail is to build and maintain a 34 mile multi-use rail trail from Pierce Manse in Concord to Newbury Harbor on Lake Sunapee in Newbury NH.Our official tagline is, "Ice Cream every 45 minutes." because a family riding bikes would come to a new downtown every 45 minutes. The trail goes right to the village centers of Concord, Contoocook, Warner, Bradford and Newbury. From getting to a job to accessing the places residents need to get to in their daily lives this trail provides a way to do it that is convenient, safe, reduces carbon impact and helps users save on their transportation costs. The trail is open to people of all ages and all abilities. We are striving to have the trail meet ADA requirements for slopes and access. From an infant's first walk to a senior citizen's last this trail will be the ideal place. Rail trails are linear parks that are invaluable as ways to introduce people to nature. This trail follows the Warner River in Warner, Sutton and Bradford. It crosses the Contoocook River multiple times. It goes by old mills, provides constant reminders of the railroad history, goes by farms reminding people of the eat local movement and brings people to places they already want to go in a way that makes them feel good about how they got there.
