The overarching purpose of Wonder & Wisdom is to inspire lives and communities of purpose and meaning by providing intentional, innovative, learning opportunities in which people of all ages and abilities discover who they are and are encouraged to realize their full potential. Under the W&W umbrella, we formed our project group to foster the sustainable development of a two acre community greenspace, located in Craftsbury Village, as a vibrant center for the arts, education, nature recreation, and service-learning. The foreclosed property was donated to Wonder & Wisdom in 2016 through the Community and Urban Stabilization Program of Wells Fargo Bank. In the project's first year, two blighted buildings on the property were salvaged and demolished in an environmentally responsible manner. The property was cleaned up by community volunteers, landscaped, seeded, and transformed into a beautiful neighborhood commons. Our work now is to build volunteer capacity to maintain, enhance, and develop this public land as a vital community resource for all ages to enjoy.
