Our purpose is to... make giving and generosity an integral part of people’s lives.We will do that by providing people with the experience, the opportunity, the pleasure of giving in a quite unusual way.   The annual ritual of harvesting apples and giving a part of that harvest to people who are hungry will provide that positive experience to this as well as the next generation.

• The Gift of Giving Foundation proposes that a gift of 2 apple trees be given to all who are interested.
• The recipients of the apple trees will promise that they will donate 25% of the apple crop to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Hadley, MA.
• The Gift of Giving Foundation will assure that the trees are planted properly by engaging students who are in the Farm and Food Systems curriculum at GCC and UMASS to assist with the planting.  

 

• The Gift of Giving Foundation will conduct yearly workshops and send yearly information packets to tree recipients to assure that they are caring for their trees properly as well as determining that they are still the owners of the property. If they are no longer the property owners, an attempt will be made to enroll the new owners into the program.
