Our Purpose

BRYTE Summer Camp is a four-week summer program for refugee youth, striving to provide refugee youth in Providence with critical academic and language support, leadership and teamwork skills, and a healthy, safe community for healing and growth. Our curricular model believes in English language acquisition through active engagement - students learn best by doing and creating. To this end, our camp offers arts-based and inquiry-based literacy programming. We believe in a relationship-based, asset-based model that empowers youth to foster community, develop leadership, and create change. Through our curriculum, we also engage our youth in discussions about some of the world's most pressing social issues and how we can create individual and collective solutions to these issues, such as: the environment, racism, education inequality, and violence, among others.
