Our Purpose

The Exeter-Squamscott River Local Advisory Committee (ESRLAC), established in 1996 under New Hampshire's Local Rivers Management and Advisory Program, serves as the primary steward of the Exeter-Squamscott River, a major tributary to the Great Bay estuary.  ESRLAC members, serving as volunteer representatives of their communities, focus on partnering with riverfront landowners, land developers, conservation organizations, and local and state government on strengthening the resiliency of the river and its watershed to development and climate change, including the protection of water quality, water quantity, recreational opportunities, and cultural and historical resources in the watershed. ESRLAC acts as a conduit between landowners, developers, river users, conservation agencies, and municipal and state officials, advocating for best managment practices and community engagement to protect the river.
