Our Purpose

Cape Ann Climate Coalition (CACC) is an inclusive grassroots community-based organization whose mission is to mobilize widespread climate action on Cape Ann. The CACC was formed in 2019  to increase the effectiveness of many small groups and individuals working on climate change issues. We believe together we can work stronger, faster, and more efficiently by sharing skills, interests, and knowledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make our community less vulnerable to climate change. We value individual talents and needs, flexibility, and inclusion. We have engaged in community wide efforts. The many individual or small group actions  have included: community art projects, advocacy at the state level for climate legislation, decarbonizing low income households, successfully advocating for a sustainability director, developing native gardens to support biodiversity, school projects, and multiple events on topics such as: Solar for Landlords & Homeowners, Community Solar, Electrifying Everything for renters and landlords, Buying a Used EV, and the availability of free EV chargers for low income residents and residents in the environmental justice zones. Other groups, related to our work, are invited to join us. At a recent CACC All Member meeting, ideas about climate issues and our community's needs were jointly discussed. Given our dedication to grassroots engagement, the need to keep outreach and engagement as a top priority became apparent.
