Everett Community Growers
Our Purpose
Everett Community Growers (ECG) is a program of the Everett Community Health Partnership (ECHP), working to deepen civic engagement and advance health equity and racial equity among Everett residents through urban agriculture and other food justice initiatives. ECG members work to create spaces for growing food in the city, organize for food policy change, and provide opportunities for youth-led civic projects. ECG currently runs the Florence St Community Garden, the Tremont St Community Garden, Everett Earthworks permaculture project, and the Northern Strand Community Farm (NSCF). Our fiscal sponsor is La Comunidad, Inc. The two community gardens allow 35 families to grow produce in raised beds. The NSCF is run by a Youth Crew (high school students) who deliver fresh, locally-grown produce to the food pantry via the bike path in Everett. Additionally, ECG is deeply involved in local policy and advocacy work and co-wrote the first food plan for the City of Everett, in partnership with the City and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. In 2020, our Youth Crew piloted our first-ever farm stand and received approval from the state to accept SNAP and HIP benefits for produce sales, and they also launched a pilot program to deliver produce directly to residents' homes.
