The Stone Soup Cafe is a pay-what-you-can community cafe that offers a luncheon meal every Saturday in order to create a diverse, inclusive, egalitarian community and reduce hunger in Franklin County, Massachusetts.  Chefs with professional experience use locally sourced, predominantly organic food to prepare high quality, nutritious meals each week.  Stone Soup Cafe is structured to create a safe space in which the whole person is nurtured and treated with respect and dignity regardless of their background or current life circumstances.  Often, social patterns keep people from different groups from interacting with one another.  This segregation perpetuates misunderstanding of people from different life circumstances as well as the cycle of poverty.  By breaking down barriers between people from different backgrounds, community members are enriched and opportunities are enhanced.Stone Soup Cafe seeks to create a more just, egalitarian society by offering people from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to work, eat, and communicate together.  Through these shared experiences, community members develop a greater understanding and appreciation for one another.
