Littleton Community Farm
Our Purpose
In 2013, a small group of passionate residents of Littleton, MA convened around adding land back into the agricultural inventory that would serve the food insecure. With a lease from the New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF), of 2.8 acres, Littleton Community Farm (LCF) was born. LCF’s mission is to reduce food insecurity in our area, provide farm-based education, and be a place for community connection. We grow nutrient-dense mixed vegetables with best organic practices. Through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and farm-based education activities and events, LCF engages the community and serves our central mission of hunger relief. LCF aims to serve low- to moderate-income households, including children, families, and the elderly, in the Nashoba Valley and specifically in Ayer, Boxborough, Chelmsford, Groton, Harvard, Littleton, Lunenburg, Shirley, Westford and the city of Lowell. Income inequality and wealth disparity are the greatest drivers of food insecurity in the U.S.A. By supporting people in vulnerable populations with fresh, healthy food, we can help decrease preventable diseases by strengthening healthy food access. Decreasing economic barriers to food will improve overall well-being and reduce health care disparities. In six years, the farm has donated over 21,500 lbs. of produce.
