Our Purpose

A North Country Regional group of citizens formed Protectors of the Ammonoosuc River Corridor (“PARC”).  The purpose of PARC is to ensure responsible land use and development in the River Corridor.  By organizing a formal group, regional citizens can join efforts to review development proposals and combat  environmental degradation to the River Corridor and oppose development contrary to good land use planning measures, based on proposals that the Board considers of significant concern.    Another focus of PARC will be education to regional citizens and local planning board and zoning boards.  In addition, PARC will seek development of a “good neighbor” certification for companies engaged in the mining and sale of sand, gravel and stone, which would enable buyers to distinguish between sources of sand, gravel and stone that seek to minimize the effect on neighbors and the beauty of the area .
