Please provide a brief description of the project for which you seek funding.

NLT has an established (2 years) program augmenting the Norwalk Public Schools classroom science curriculum, including on-site visits to NLT's Farm Creek Nature Preserve. In 2011 NLT plans to expand this program to reach young teens through the "Youth Stewards Program(YSP)." YSP will recruit 13 - 16 y. o. youth to visit NLT properties, obtain on-site instruction on environment protection and stewardship, with hands-on activities. YSP participants will receive successful-participation materials. Work will include invasives removal, native plantings, trash and debris cleanup, watercourse cleanup, habitat enhancements and seed plantings. Groups will be drawn from scouts, at-risk groups, church groups, high schools. This grant request is for wild duck nestboxes and wildflower seeds.
