to work to educate city residents, neighborhood and community groups on the benefits of the Community Preservation Act (CPA) to create a better quality of life for our neighborhoods. We are an education group working on community preservation issues in New Bedford, MA. New Bedford residents would benefit greatly from CPA funds directed to our empty lots and historic properties that have been boarded up due to the strains on city funds. The New Bedford CPA Education Group proposes to hold a series of information sessions with grassroots and neighborhood groups to present the benefits of local grassroot development to neighborhood lots and other properties. The group began meeting in November 2013 as we watched surrounding communities work to adopt CPA actions and place their residents in position to receive state funds for preservation.
