Our Purpose

To develop an organic vegetable, herb and fruit demonstation garden for education and to provide produce for local food pantries. This three acre site is to be utilized for Master Gardeners to teach children, youth and adults the value of gardening to provide food, inspiration for developing career skills and taking care of the land with demonstrating good garden practices and sustainability. These garden leaders are planning monthly workshops in order to teach such topics as companion herbs, water conserving techniques and organic growing practices, the value of organic gardens to our environment and communities, and the benefits of gardening for our health and well being. Long term goals will include after school programs and camp for children who will especially enjoy learning about the butterfly and hummingbird plants/bushes with signage about food and life cycles, and how our choices aid wildlife survival. Workshops will include container gardening for limited spaces, vertical gardening, water conservation techniques, planting pollinators, and herb planting, tending and preserving.
