to loan yard & garden and carpentry tools to residents of Northfield for a period of one week. Staffed entirely by volunteers, our goal is to make home maintenance and home improvement as convenient and earth friendly as possible. Borrowing a tool, rather than buying or renting, saves money for our community members. In addition, this eliminates the need to use gasoline to travel to any of the nearest towns (a 30 minute trip) from which equipment could be rented. An added benefit is that we are helping to make it possible for renters and home owners to weatherize their homes, saving heating costs and precious resources. We have enlisted the support of local mechanics who have each "adopted" a tool allowing us to keep equipment in good repair for only the cost of parts, not labor. Our inventory currently lists 106 tools from hammers to compound miter saws and rototillers.
