Our Purpose

United by our shared spiritual, moral, and ethical calling to respond boldly to the plight of the Earth and of the poor, we are working for restorative justice, right sharing, and peaceful sustainability for all of creation, present and future.  We undertake projects that directly or indirectly, via interaction with other STM committees, inspire the STM community and others to embrace unified action according to the principle that everything is connected; that we are part of nature and in constant interaction with it by our daily choices and actions; and that the fate of creation, especially including that of the poor, depends on the choices we make. Our projects have included:  compost collection at the weekly college student dinners; supporting reuse and recycling at the annual STM yard sale; defining special environmental liturgies. parish bulletin entries and program, including for children of the parish; arranging energy audits for the finance committee; nature walks and participating in local interfaith environmental actions.
