Our Purpose

Our goal is to transform a trash-strewn 60' x 100' vacant lot into a multipurpose garden. We plan to create a garden that will: 1) grow organic fruits and vegetables, 2) give local residents access to outdoor space, 3) teach children about growing their own food, 4) provide a community gathering space, and 5) build relationships between the neighborhood and nearby schools. We will have 4' x 8' gardening plots for members, membership dues, a lockable toolshed with tools for members, a rainwater collection system connected to the nearby apartment building downspout, and a composting area that contributes to the NYC Composting Project. We plan to offer open gardening hours that are open to everyone in the community, regardless of membership.
