Our Purpose

Our mission at Highfields Center for Composting is to Close the Loop on community-based, sustainable food and agricultural systems, thus addressing soil health, water quality, solid waste, farm viability, and climate change. Close the Loop! is our program to build out the necessary infrastructure for recycling food scraps and other organic resources in Vermont and beyond! We work with stakeholders at any level of the community to create composting programs that meet the specific needs of the region. Nate Clark is an AmeriCorps member at Highfields Center for Composting and a team member of Highfields' Close the Loop! program. Eric Paris is owner and operator of Tamarlane Farm and Kingdom View Compost in Lyndonville, VT. Kingdom View Compost is a key community composter for the Close the Loop! Northeast Kingdom program. Kingdom View Compost accepts food scraps from 16 regional food scrap generators receiving about eight tons/week of organics from schools, businesses & institutions
