Our Purpose

A select board appointed body that works on town energy projects, such as weatherization, promoting sustainable energy, reducing environmental effects, and promoting local solutions. These objectives have included working with Efficiency VT and VEIC (LED streetlights, Button Up workshops, Home Energy Challenge), Transition Town Hartland (bicycle blenders to promote bicycles, reduced fossil fuel use and highlight climate effects), Hartland Farmers' Market, (founder, and on steering committee), Hartland Community Arts (curated 3 community art shows about our relationship with our environment), Library (created a continuing Sustainability Bookshelf, and founded a town listserv to promote local activities), Solar Hartland (educating people and businesses in the Upper Valley area about renewable energy), as well as assisting the town manager (town building energy audits and selection of new boilers). NOTE: most of our outreach has been through these groups and their social media.
