Our Purpose

to implement the energy plan approved by our town at last Town Meeting (3/13). This plan was called for in the Rights-Based-Ordinance the town approved in March of 2012 which asserted the town's rights to a "sustainable energy future" (see the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund website) and thus freedom from state and federal preemption in siting large energy projects in our town. Our energy plan sets specific targets for reduction of town-wide home energy use. We are working on establishing a baseline for use which will be followed by educational outreach about energy efficiency programs and rebates available to residents. This will be followed up with a town wide meeting and presentation of one or more test cases showing the process of home audit, efficiency measure, rebates, tax incentives and savings. We have also undertaken an audit on Easton's Town Hall and Fire Station and have volunteers and funds for basement insulation.
