to support the "Community Supported Farmers Markets" (CSFM) initiative, which offers a half price discount on produce at two local markets to customers using SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps). We formed the Food Access committee during the winter of 2013 with two goals - one, to increase awareness and accessibility of the markets and the SNAP discount, and two, to raise community awareness about the struggles faced by SNAP users. Our vision is to engage more SNAP customers as members of the Food Access committee and empower them share their stories about the realities of poverty and help reduce the negative stigma associated with SNAP benefits in our community.
